ALIC Lab
The Allegheny Lab for Innovation & Creativity (ALIC) is an interdisciplinary innovation space where students explore emerging technologies, develop practical skills, and engage in hands-on learning experiences. Through collaboration with faculty, peers, and industry partners, students apply technology and innovation to real-world challenges.
Innovation and Hands-On Learning
ALIC’s on-campus lab provides students with access to resources that support the design, development, and testing of a wide variety of projects. Students have opportunities to explore areas such as robotics, virtual environments, video game development, smart devices, product prototyping, and other technology-driven initiatives. Through project-based learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, students gain valuable experience that complements their academic studies and prepares them for future careers.
Industry Partnerships and Career Pathways
ALIC promotes collaboration between education and industry by connecting students with professional opportunities and real-world experiences. Through partnerships with organizations such as Acutec Precision Aerospace and other regional employers, students can explore internships, career opportunities, applied projects, and workforce development experiences that strengthen their professional preparation and industry connections.
ALIC @ Bessemer
ALIC @ Bessemer is Allegheny College’s branch campus dedicated to innovation, workforce development, and industry collaboration. Located in Meadville’s Bessemer Commerce Park, the facility connects education with real-world industry needs through hands-on learning opportunities, specialized training programs, and partnerships with regional employers.
Through industry-focused programs and instruction from experienced professionals, ALIC @ Bessemer helps students develop practical skills while gaining insight into current technologies and workplace expectations. The facility also supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and professional development through opportunities for collaboration between students, educators, and industry partners.
Reis Hall
Reis Hall is being transformed into the Phil St. Moritz Center for Innovation, a modern hub for teaching, learning, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The facility will bring together the Computer and Information Science Department and the Allegheny Lab for Innovation & Creativity (ALIC), creating a shared space where students can explore emerging technologies, develop innovative solutions, and engage in hands-on learning experiences.
Designed to support creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence, Reis Hall will provide technology-enhanced learning environments and spaces for research, project development, and interdisciplinary work. By connecting innovation with Allegheny’s liberal arts tradition, the facility will help prepare students for careers in a rapidly evolving technological world.
