5th International Workshop on Automation of Software Test
3-4 May 2010
Co-located with the ACM/IEEE 32nd International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2010) held in Cape Town, South Africa
Charette: Key Challenges in Automated Software Testing
Special Theme: Integration Testing
As defined in Wikipedia, a charette is a collaborative session in which a group of designers drafts a solution to a design problem. While the structure of a charette varies, depending on the design problem and the individuals in the group, charettes often take place in multiple sessions in which the group divides into sub-groups. Each sub-group then presents its work to the full group as material for future dialogue. Such charettes serve as a way of quickly generating a design solution while integrating the aptitudes and interests of a diverse group of people.
The AST 2010 workshop continues the successful discussions of the previous year by running a multi-day charette that considers the most immediate challenges in the field of integration testing. The charette session will have two purposes: stimulating near-term research and fostering group discussion and cooperation among participants. The planned charette will identify the key aspects of automated integration testing that are worth research efforts in the near future. The conference organizers will ask participants to envision approaches that address these aspects and to form collaborations in order to solve the identified problems more effectively.
